The Selection Process

Identifying the most promising ideas for development is a top priority for the UH Haslam Sports Innovation Center and we welcome all innovators to submit their ideas. Taking ideas from concept to development to implementation is a multi-faceted process with the following steps:

Source Ideas

Invite innovators to submit ideas via competitions, networking and other outreach activities from within UH and globally. The selection process will focus on ideas with proofs of concept and prototypes in need of market testing and technological enhancement.

Support and Develop

Selected ideas/concepts are given a specific level of funding and the opportunity to pilot, co-develop and accelerate progress in UH’s living lab. In addition, any endowment funds received will be invested and grow over time, providing an ongoing source of sustainable support.

Invest

Investments are made in the most promising innovations through for-profit development, including performing due diligence, validating and de-risking with support and expertise from UH Ventures.

Communicate

Compile research results and communicate the potential impact of innovations to local and national media, and target audiences through publications and newsletters.
